Attendance at Graduation 2012
If you have any questions about attending Graduation 2012,
please contact the Graduation Office at:
graduation@essex.ac.uk
or Tel: 01206 872969, Intl: +44 1206 872969.

I am completing a joint degree, which ceremony will I
attend?
Although you are studying a joint degree, it is administered
by one Department, you will attend the ceremony for this Department.
You can check which Department you belong to by accessing
myEssex and selecting
myStudy. You then need to select
your course to display the name of your Department.

Can I defer graduation?
No, all students who have either
completed their award or are due to complete their award this year
(by a given deadline) will be invited to attend the forthcoming
Graduation. If you are invited this year, you may not attend a
ceremony in a subsequent year.

Can I choose which ceremony to attend?
No, you must attend the Graduation ceremony that is
allocated to your department, school or centre.
Further details about the Graduation schedule will be available at
the end of the
Spring term 2012.

Do I have to attend a ceremony?
You can graduate 'in absentia' which means in your absence. Your
certificate will be posted to your permanent home address
approximately two weeks after the date of the ceremony.
It is very important that you keep your home address up to date via
myessex.
If you wish to collect your certificate, please
notify the Graduation Office (e-mail: graduation@essex.ac.uk).

How much do I have to pay to graduate?
You are not required to pay anything to graduate, but if you invite
guests to the ceremony and departmental reception you will need to
pay £15 per guest ticket. The guest tickets include light
refreshments at the departmental reception and a Graduation programme, which includes your name. If you attend the
ceremony you will be required to wear an academic robe, this can be
hired from Ede & Ravenscroft and incurs a
charge.
For further details, please refer
to the Graduation
Guest Ticket Policy.

Do I have to pay for my own ticket?
You do not have to pay for your own ticket.
