Outlook Overview

Documentation | Other sources of help | Training courses

Microsoft Outlook is the recommended email and collaboration tool for use at Essex. Although Outlook can be used with a variety of email accounts, it is recommended that your email is stored on a Microsoft Exchange Server. If it is, Outlook will allow you to use its additional collaboration tools, such as the Calendar, Journal and Tasks list.

Use this web page to find out if your email is delivered to an Exchange Server. If your mail server is of the form exchangex.essex.ac.uk (where x is a digit), your email is stored on a Microsoft Exchange Server.

Click anywhere on the Office Assistant to get help with the feature you are currently using. Alternatively, typing a question into the field at the bottom of the speech bubble, and then clicking on the Search button will display some possible answers to your question.

If you find the Office Assistant annoying, the Contents and Index option from the Help menu will display a more traditional Windows help system.
