The is a program in the PC labs
called ECDL which is designed for people taking that qualification. It does
provide a good basic training in most common office applications. Staff can run
this program from their own machines. For details see:

The Training Section is prepared to arrange courses in a wide range of Computer related topics, either by giving them themselves or by finding experts from other universities who are prepared to visit this site. (This would have to be paid for.) We can often provide details of commercially run courses in a wide range of topics, but these tend to be very expensive.
From time to time throughout the year we will advertise via staff email a variety of courses. Details will be posted on the Web.
We are always ready to arrange training for individuals or small groups on request.

Under some circumstances we are prepared to give individual tuition to members of staff but it must be appreciated that this is not normally an efficient use of our resources.
If you have any training needs, contact Jerry Reid (ext 2047) or Kenn Butcher (ext 2582) and they will be glad to assist you.
