Introduction to EDUROAM

EDUROAM (formerly known as JANET Roaming Service or JRS) enables the use of specified local network resources by members of participating organisation with reasonably minimal setup. A full list of participating institutions can be found on the JRS website.

EDUROAM services at the University of Essex

The University of Essex EDUROAM service complies with JRS Tier 2 and offers secure login and access to a range of internet services via wireless provision for visitors from any participating organisation using the credentials provided by their home organisation. Members of the University of Essex can also use the service using their local credentials.

Terms and Conditions.

In order to use the EDUROAM service at the University of Essex, you are required to agree to the Terms and Conditions of your home organisation and the JANET Acceptable Use Policy.

Availability

The EDUROAM service can be accessed from all the same locations at the University wireless service using the SSID 'eduroam'. It is available to all members of the University of Essex along with members of other EDUROAM participating organisations. Other SSIDs which might be available (such as 'Essex Wireless') are for University of Essex members only.
