Votes: number of votes won by the electoral contender in question

% Vote: percentage of votes won by the respective contender in question. This figure is the number of votes cast for the contender divided by the total number of valid votes cast, including, where relevant, those cast 'against all'.

vote1: votes won in constituency by the party/grouping/contender in question (first round)

vote2: votes won by the party/grouping/contender in question (second round)

pvote: percentage votes for party/grouping/contender. This figure is the number of votes cast for the contender in question divided by the total number of valid votes cast, including, where relevant, those cast 'against all'

pvote1: percentage votes for party/grouping/contender (first round). This figure is the number of votes cast for the contender in question divided by the total number of valid votes cast, including, where relevant, those cast 'against all'.

pvote2: percentage votes for party/grouping/contender (second round) This figure is the number of votes cast for the contender in question divided by the total number of valid votes cast, including, where relevant, those cast 'against all'.

List Votes: This figure is the number of votes cast for the list in question

% List Votes: This figure is the total number of votes cast for the list in question divided by the total number of valid votes cast (on the list portion of the ballot), including, where relevant, those cast 'against all lists'.

Single-member votes: This figure is the number of votes cast in single-member constituencies for the candidates of the party in question

% Single-member votes: This figure is the number of votes cast in single-member constituencies for the candidates of the party in question divided by the total number of valid votes cast in all single-member constituencies.

Single-member seats: This figure is the number of seats won by the party/ grouping/contender in question in single member constituencies

% Single-member seats: This figure is the number of seats won by the party/ grouping/contender in question divided by the total number of single-member seats distributed (which may in some cases be slightly less than the statutory number of (single-member) seats in the assembly if seats remain vacant after the election is concluded).

List Seats: This figure is the number of seats won by the list of the contender in question

% List Seats: This figure is the number of seats won by the list in question divided by the total number of seats distributed through the list distribution mechanism (which may in some cases be slightly less than the statutory number of (list) seats in the assembly of if seats remain vacant after the election is concluded).

Turnout: This figure is calculated as the total number of votes cast (including invalid votes) divided by the total registered electorate. NB: In the official results reported by some countries, turnout is based on the number of ballots distributed and not on the number of votes cast. We have adopted the above definition for the sake of consistency.

turnout1: % turnout first round, This figure is calculated as the total number of votes cast (including invalid votes) in the first round divided by the total registered electorate. NB: In the official results reported by some countries, turnout is based on the number of ballots distributed and not on the number of votes cast. turnout2: % turnout second round. This figure is calculated as the total number of votes cast (including invalid votes) in the second round divided by the total registered electorate. NB: In the official results reported by some countries, turnout is based on the number of ballots distributed and not on the number of votes cast. We have adopted the above definition for the sake of consistency.

Number of Registered Voters: Number of voters included in the official electoral registration lists.

votereg: number of registered voters in the constituency.

votereg1: number of registered voters in the constituency (first round)

votereg2: number of registered voters in constituency (second round)

total cast: This figure refers to the number of ballots placed in the ballot box or otherwise submitted for counting. NB: The number of votes cast is not to be confused with the number distributed, which is also reported in many official results and is used by some states to calculate turnout. In this database the number of votes cast is used to calculate turnout. In cases of mixed systems with two physically separate ballots for the single-member-constituency and the list components of the ballot, two figures are listed, one corresponding to each mode of voting.

valid: This figure represents the number of ballots considered valid.

% valid: percentage of ballots considered valid

invalid1: invalid votes, number of voted/ballots declared invalid (first round)
