Disability and Study Abroad
Studying abroad is a great way to experience other countries
and cultures. Many disabled students have
taken advantage of these opportunities.
If you are considering study aboard we advise that
you discuss this to investigate the provision available in your chosen country and
institution of study. Although
many universities in other countries will be able to offer similar
disability services to those that you are used to,
this can vary. By discussing this early, you can receive
advice and information on access to the course and different
institutions to help you to make an informed choice.
The Disability Team
can advise you on accessing Disabled Students
Allowance whilst you are abroad as well as medical assurance and,
with your permission, liaise with your host institution eg regarding
individual examination arrangements.
The
Study
Abroad Office can provide information on where you can study as
well as fees and funding. They have previously advised
disabled students studying abroad and have a good knowledge of
facilities and support in different countries and institutions.
