Notification of Religious Commitments

If you are unable to take an examination during the main examination periods on a Sabbath, holy day or religious festival, you must notify Student Support by 31 October for January examinations and 31 January for the summer examinations. 

To apply, please complete the Application for Exam Arrangements (Religious Reasons) Form and return it, along with evidence to Student Support.

The University is NOT able to make alterations for individuals once the timetable has been published. If you have to miss an exam due to religious observance, you need to notify your absence and submit an Extenuating Circumstances form for an opportunity to sit the exam as a re-sit. Extenuating Circumstances forms are available for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

If your application for individual arrangements is accepted, the Examinations Office will make every effort to schedule your examinations accordingly, although the University reserves the right to schedule examinations on a Sabbath, holy day or during religious festivals where no suitable alternative is available.
