Drugs & Alcohol Issues - advice and help

If you would like advice or help on these issues please visit the Wellbeing Team in Student Support (see details on the Student Support web page) or see below for further details and links.

  • Open Road - Outreach service for substance misuse.
    Open Road is a voluntary organisation supporting individuals, their families and local communities with issues around drugs and alcohol. Open Road provides a holistic service to clients including information, advice and support, assessments, keyworking and counselling.

    The service can be accessed by emailing help (@openroad.org.uk) or by calling 0844 499 1323.  

    The service is free of charge, confidential and independent of the University.

  • Alcoholics Anonymous - a voluntary organisation which helps people to achieve sobriety. The service can be accessed by e-mailing help (@alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk) or by calling 0845 769 7555.  

  • Talk to Frank - provides friendly, confidential drugs advice. The service can be accessed by completing their online enquiry form or by calling 0800 77 66 00.

  • University of Essex Drugs & Alcohol Policy - includes sources of help and local information for all campuses
