After 11 years as Director of the Human Rights
Centre, Professor Kevin Boyle has handed over the directorship of the
Centre to Professor Paul Hunt from the Department of Law. Professor Hunt
has lived, and undertaken human rights work, in Europe, Middle East,
Africa and the South Pacific. In 1998, he was elected by the United
Nations to serve as an independent expert on the UN Committee on Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights (1999-2002). Professor Boyle has been appointed
as Senior Advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human
Rights, Mary Robinson. This one year post commences on 10 September 2001
and will be based in Geneva
Dr Todd Landman will remain the Deputy Director of
the Centre.
Professor David Sanders, Pro-Vice Chancellor
(Research) will be retiring as Chairman of the Human Rights Centre
Management Committee. He held this post for the past three years.
Professor Rob Massara will be taking over as Chairman of the Human Rights
Centre Management Committee from 1 August 2001.
